Withdrawals, Refunds, and Student Fee Protection

Student Fee Protection (SFP)

All course fees are securely held in the Nelson Aviation College Milestone Public Trust Account in accordance with the Education and Training Act 2020, protecting your financial investment throughout your training.

Course Closure Event

In the unlikely event of a Course Closure, students are entitled to a pro-rated refund of any undelivered services. Students should check the NZQA website periodically for closure information.

Statutory Withdrawal and Refund Period

Students wishing to withdraw must notify NAC and complete a withdrawal form.

The statutory refund and withdrawal period for international students covers the 10 working days from the day the student is first required to attend.

Refund Entitlements (If Withdrawing within the Statutory Period):

NAC is entitled to retain up to 25% of the fees paid. Deductions must be justifiable.

Less than
three months

Less than five weeks: Receive a refund of at least 50% of fees paid (up to end of day two).
Greater than five weeks, but less than three months: Receive a refund of at least 75% of fees paid (up to end of day five).


Withdrawal after the period:
All unused flight training fees will be reimbursed.

Important Note: NAC is required to notify Immigration New Zealand when an international student withdraws.
